Commish's Corner
Better Late Than Never: Mrs. Commish's thoughts on the Final 8
Last week, Mrs. Commish took the time to type out her comments as the show went by. I was actually watching with her this time, but I was still jet-lagged from my trip to the land of the Cardigans and Ace of Base - so I wasn't awake enough to type anything. Actually, I was so out of it, I forgot to post these comments. So here you go ...
Paul wishes he was Chris Robinson from The Black Crowes... I went to downtown River Stages one time just to dance like a hippie and see him sing. If you are going to do southern rock at least sound like Chris Robinson. Wait, is that Mrs. Seacrest Out on the saxophone? Paul is doing the "Elaine" dance from Seinfeld. Randy is dressed like he is about to sing "Hit Me Baby One More Time". It is really creeping me out.
will i am is funny. He looks like a wise little owl. Lauren is wearing Barbie clothes tonight and she does a decent job with a Miley Cyrus song. It's probably a smart move to sing a Miley Cyrus song because you will always sound better and the teenage girls who vote will know the song.
Stefano is talking about Pia's elimination last week- "It was a tough night for America". I think America has bigger fish to fry, Stefano. will i am leaves the wise owl persona behind and decides he will encourage the idol contestants with cursing. I love this song and think Stefano sounds pretty good but I can't say I love it. The Commish said Stefano just jinxed himself by saying he's come to the end of the road. Jennifer Lopez says, "That was the s$%t" and gets bleeped out. Ladies and gentlemen, the most beautiful woman in the world.
will i am is shooting owl eye daggers at Scotty. "I'm kind of going back to my country roots with this one" Scotty says. Did you ever leave, buddy? His facial expressions KILL me. The worst. Why do the judges love this, why why why?
Let me just start by saying I love jazz music. When I am cooking and cleaning I turn it to Comcast channel 438- singers and swing. Those are my singing heroes. Somehow this thing with Casey just did not work for me. I thought his playing was great but his voice was just OK. He wasn't just taking liberty with the melody, it was hard to find the melody sometimes. "It's like Sting and beyond"- Steven Tyler. Casey and Senate majority leader John Boehner should get together and have a man cry party.
Haley continues to grow on me. Somehow I really like her and Mr. C cannot figure it out. She is pretty annoying to watch sometimes but her vocals are really really good. Of course, the judges don't like it. Steven Tyler just said something I couldn't discern about her dress but it sounded dirty. Yuck.
Jacob looks like he has totally given up and he can't even fake the emotion in his interview. I am glad they called him out about his comments last week... I bet Jimmy Iovine is reading IdolSchmidol, right? Once again, Jacob's vibrato is about to carry him off the stage like a helicopter. "God bless you... and your voice"- Steven Tyler.
"Give metal a chance, America" says James Durbin. We did in the 80's and now we are left with Bret Michaels Rock of Love. I do have a soft spot in my heart for The Darkness but that guy's vocals are insane. James sounds pretty good, you can tell he is having fun. That note at the end was pretty crazy. "We always say to all you kids.. do you"- Randy Jackson.
